Bryant Street is a member of London
Citizens (TELCO), affiliated to Citizens UK. Through our membership we
have set up a number of campaigns working for the common good of our
communities. Over 10,000 low paid workers now get a Living Wage because
of our work. This campaign started in 2001 and has put over £210
million into the pockets of tens of thoiusands of the lowest paid
workers. In Living Wage Week in November 2014 over 1,000 employers had
been accredited as Living Wage Employers, including Nationwide, Google
and Nestle. The hourly rate of £9.15 for Londonfor 2014-15 was announced by Boris Johnson at Google's HQ.
Citizens UK is made up of affiliated Chapters: The East London Communities
Organisation (TELCO), South London Citizens (SLC), West London Citizens (WLC),
North London Citizens (NLC), and outside London Citizens:MK (in Milton
Keynes), These Chapters are made up of dues-paying member institutions representing faith institutions, universities, colleges, and schools, trade unions, and community groups. Altogether, more than 450 civil society institutions have joined local Citizens UK Chapters and have committed to working together for the common good of our communities. If you are from a civil society institution and are keen to find out more about joining an existing Chapter, or if you are interested in developing a Sponsoring Committee in your city, contact a Citizens UK Community Organiser.
